刀，分为很多种，有柳叶刀、双刀、腰带刀、虎头刀、金钱刀等种类。少林单刀属柳叶刀单刀的一种。柳叶单刀在武术器械中深受练武者欢迎，习练人数较多，所以它风格各异，千变万化。本刀是由劈、挂、扫、撩、砍、刺、缠头衷脑等动作组成，它直接击打对方的头、身、颈、胸等要害部位，由于它的短小精悍，运用起来雷厉风行，使对方防不胜防。
